Post-Winter System Test Procedure

How to test your Lumo system after the off-season

Updated over 4 months ago

Initial Steps

  1. Log into the Ops Center

  2. Navigate to the Devices page

  3. Confirm that all devices (base, relays, valves) assigned to the farm are online and have battery levels greater than 35%, by clicking the pencil icon for each device and navigating to the Telemetry tab

For any devices that are offline or exhibiting low battery, follow these troubleshooting steps

Testing Procedure

  1. Pressurize the irrigation system

  2. Open each valve for at least 4 minutes. This may be done manually using the Control Button on the valve, or by scheduling irrigations in the Ops Center

Note: Lumo valves sync every 2 minutes, so a minimum test duration of 4 minutes per valve ensures there’s an opportunity to collect multiple data points to verify functionality

Test Verification

  1. Navigate to the Activity page in the Ops Center and review each test irrigation to confirm that the valve opened and closed on time (either at the press of the Control Button or at the scheduled time) and that the valve tracked flow.

  2. The flow rate and volume are displayed on the activity page. Click on an individual irrigation to view the Flow Vision chart for more specific details of the test

Example: successful test irrigation

Example: no flow tracked during test irrigation

Additional Troubleshooting

If the valve fails to open/close or track flow, follow these troubleshooting steps, and retest the valve once the issue is resolved:
