What is Manual Mode?
Lumo smart valves may be opened and closed using the Control Button on the valve, in addition to scheduling irrigations via the Ops Center software. This hardware-only process is referred to as “Manual Mode.”
Manual Mode Purposes
Some common reasons to manually open or close the valve include:
Injecting a block-level treatment through the injector ports (i.e. fertigation or chemigation)
Purging lines
Checking for leaks, clogs, emitter issues, or performing distribution uniformity tests
Testing recently fixed or installed lines/emitters
Testing the valve after initial installation or troubleshooting.
Steps for using Manual Mode
Step 1: Wake Up the device
Press the Control Button once to wake up the device. The device may reboot, and will flash two white lights, then go from flashing to a solid Connectivity Status LED.
Step 2: Press and Hold to Open
Press and hold the control button for approximately five seconds. The Valve Status LED will show a solid blue light while pressed, then flash when it is ready to open or close.
Release the button. You should hear the valve click as it moves to the open position.
The Valve Status LED should now blink green every second, indicating the valve is open.
Check the Ops Center on your phone to confirm the valve is open and tracking flow.
Step 3: Press and Hold to Close
To close the valve, repeat steps 1 and 2. After holding the control button for five seconds, you should once again hear a click as the valve closes, and the blinking green Valve Status LED will turn off, indicating the valve is closed.
