While walking the ranch, you may notice water leaking from a union. Here are a few items to inspect to determine how to best address the leak.
Turn off the water to the Lumo valve
Manually open and close the valve to release the vacuum from the lines
Unscrew the union collars to determine if the unions are cross-threaded or if the threads are stripped
Determine if the union gap is too large or at an angle that’s not flush. If the gap is too large or not flush, it may need to be replumbed
If it is close, it may be better to secure one side fully and flex the manifold into the correct position while securing the union
Remove the wetware from the manifold and check the integrity of the flat O-rings
Replace any O-rings that have lost their shape or deformed in any way
Examples of deformation include but are not limited to:
Frayed O-rings
Chunks missing from the O-ring - meaning that the O-ring does not have a completely smooth surface on the top of the bottom
O-ring does not sit flat in the designated, circular groove on the wetware
Example of an intact O-ring
After taking all the steps above, re-install the valve and test the system under water pressure to see if the leak has been fixed.
