Manual Switch Assembly Process

This article walks through the process of assembling the manual open/close switch with the 2" valve body (wetware).

Updated today

Purpose

The manual switch is intended to be installed before the valve body (wetware) is plumbed in. It enables you to use your irrigation system manually until the dome (electronics) are installed.

The manual switch is temporary - it will be removed when the dome is installed on each valve.

Tools Needed

  • Adjustable crescent wrench

Parts

  • 1 × 2" valve body

  • 1 × water filter

  • 1 × tube/hose

  • 1 × hose nut

  • 1 × manual valve

Assembly Steps

Step 1: Install the Water Filter into the Valve Body

  1. With the hose-side of the valve body facing you, locate the hole at the bottom of the valve body.

  2. Insert the water filter into the hole and twist clockwise until hand tight.

  3. Using the adjustable crescent wrench, tighten the water filter an additional ¼ turn past hand tight.

Step 2: Thread the Hose Nut onto the Hose

  1. Slide the hose nut onto the hose before connecting anything.

Steps 3 & 4: Connect and Tighten the Hose

  1. Step 3: With the hose nut still on the hose, place the end of the hose onto the spout of the water filter.

  2. Step 4: Thread the hose nut onto the spout and tighten by hand until snug.

Step 5: Install the Manual Valve

  1. Insert the hose coming from the water filter into the white quick-connect input labeled "A" on the manual valve.

  2. Insert the hose coming from the valve body into the black quick-connect input labeled "B" on the manual valve.

When pushing each hose into the quick connect, do not stop when you first feel resistance. Firmly push the hose into the quick connect as far as possible for proper connection.

To release the quick connect, depress the white or black ring and simultaneously remove the hose.

⚠️ Important: If the hoses are not inserted into the correct quick-connect inputs, water will not flow through the valve.

Step 6: Open the Diaphragm

  1. Using the adjustable crescent wrench, turn the threaded shaft on top of the valve body counterclockwise (to the left) until it reaches its fully extended position.

  2. Stop turning as soon as it reaches the end of its travel.

Note: The valve body on the right is ready to install - it has a taller diaphragm tension shaft than the valve body on the left.

The assembly process is now complete and the valve is ready for installation on the manifold. To operate the valve with a pressurized system, select Open or Close on the manual switch.
